Get the most from your medical plan with Blue Access for Members


If you are enrolled in a HealthSelectSM plan, you can get instant access to your claims and benefits information online through Blue Access for MembersSM.

Whether you connect on your computer or smartphone, Blue Access for Members is a great way to manage your health benefits.

Here are five ways to use your Blue Access for Members account:

  1. Use Provider Finder® to find in-network providers, get cost estimates and ratings.

    When you need to search for in-network care, you can use Provider Finder to find in-network providers in your area, compare costs and get quality ratings for providers. Through Provider Finder, you can also earn HealthSelectShoppERSSM rewards by choosing lower-cost, quality care providers for certain medical services and procedures.

  2. Shop for cost-effective providers that may earn you HealthSelectShoppERS rewards.

    If you are a benefits-eligible active employee enrolled in HealthSelect of Texas®, HealthSelectSM Out-of-State or Consumer Directed HealthSelectSM, you can now take advantage of HealthSelectShoppERS. (Medicare-primary participants, COBRA members, HealthSelectSM Secondary participants and retirees are not eligible for the HealthSelectShoppERS incentive program.)

    With HealthSelectShoppERS, you and your eligible dependents can earn up to $500 in rewards each plan year when you choose lower-cost, high-quality options for certain medical services or procedures. The incentives you earn are deposited into a TexFlex health care flexible spending account (FSA) or limited-purpose FSA.

  3. View your claims and explanation of benefits (EOB).

    An EOB is a notification you get when Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) processes a medical or mental health care claim. The EOB shows how the claim was processed and how much you may owe your provider. The EOB is not a bill and does not take into account how much you may have already paid your provider. Your provider may bill you separately for any amounts you may owe.

  4. Confirm your prior authorizations and referrals on file.

    If you’re enrolled in HealthSelect of Texas, you must get a prior authorization or referral before some services are covered at the highest level.

  5. Download a temporary medical ID card.

    Can’t find your medical ID card? Visit Blue Access for Members and get a temporary one. Or, you can find a digital ID card in the BCBSTX App.

How to register for Blue Access for Members

  1. Visit and click on “Log In” in the upper right corner.
  2. Click “Register Now” and use the information on your medical ID card to create an account.
  3. Or, text* BCBSTXAPP to 33633 to download the BCBSTX App to check on your benefits whenever or wherever you are.
