Tobacco Cessation

Improve your health and feel better by breaking the habit. Cigarette smoking is the leading cause of preventable death and can cause cancer, stroke, heart disease and numerous other diseases1. Most tobacco users have a hard time quitting. Nicotine is very addictive which makes it hard to kick the habit.

Quitting Tobacco can help

Quitting Tobacco is a free online course available to all HealthSelect participants. It is designed to help you quit using tobacco and stay tobacco-free. This self-directed course provides information on:

  • Four different quit methods
  • Goal setting
  • How to identify triggers
  • How to avoid relapse

The course includes twelves lessons that you can complete at your own pace. Revisit completed lessons whenever you like.

  • Milestone assessments
  • The Quit Tobacco Tracker
  • Educational videos
  • Challenge activities

Quitting Tobacco can be part of the ERS Choose to Quit program. For more information on the ERS Choose to Quit program visit the ERS website .

Take the first step

To access Quitting Tobacco:

  • Access Well onTarget® by logging in to Blue Access for MembersSM  and clicking on the Well onTarget link on the left side of the homepage, under “Quick Links.”
  • Click “Menu” in the upper left corner.
  • Select “Courses.”
  • Select “Quitting Tobacco.”

More tobacco cessation programs and some prescription drugs are available at no cost to eligible HealthSelect participants. For questions or more information about quitting tobacco, contact a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas Personal Health Assistant. If you have questions about prescription drug coverage for tobacco cessation, contact your current pharmacy plan.
