Diabetic Supplies Benefits
You and your covered dependents can get diabetic supplies, including test strips and lancets, at the pharmacy through your HealthSelect Prescription Drug Program (PDP). Insulin and oral medications for controlling blood sugar are also covered under the HealthSelect PDP.
To fill your prescription at a preferred in-network pharmacy, you will need a prescription for up to a 90-day supply of diabetic strips and/or lancets with refills, if appropriate. Check with the PDP to see if your supplies are covered at no cost or if a copay applies.
Note: If the diabetic supplies are used exclusively for a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) or insulin pump, you may still be able to receive them through your HealthSelect of Texas or Consumer Directed HealthSelect medical plan.
Additional diabetes support
As a HealthSelect medical plan participant, you have access to a team of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) clinicians who can help you with all types of health questions, including questions about diabetes. Whether you have been managing diabetes for a while or you are newly diagnosed, a clinician can talk with you in confidence about your condition. Just call (800) 252-8039 (TTY: 711) between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. CT Monday - Friday and ask to speak with a clinician.
