Plan Updates
Update to Benefits for Colonoscopies – Preventive care, including colonoscopies and stool-based screenings, are covered at no cost to you. Effective September 1, 2022, follow-up colonoscopies and related services received after a positive screening will be paid at no cost to you when in network.
Update to benefits for diagnostic breast imaging: Starting Sept. 1, 2022, in-network breast imaging services, including screening and diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds and MRIs, are covered at no cost to HealthSelect of Texas and HealthSelect Out-of-State participants. Additionally, breast MRIs will no longer require prior authorization. Out-of-network services will continue to be covered at 40% after you meet your annual out-of-network deductible. As a reminder, you are responsible for any charges not paid by your plan when you use a non-network provider of facility.
In Consumer Directed HealthSelect, coverage for diagnostic mammograms will include MRIs starting Sept. 1, 2022. Deductibles and coinsurance will apply unless your provider bills the diagnostic breast imaging as preventive.
Out-of-Pocket Maximums – Effective January 1, 2023, the out-of-pocket maximum will increase to $7,050 for employee-only coverage and $14,100 for family coverage. The out-of-pocket maximum includes expenses you pay toward medical and prescription drug copays, coinsurance and deductibles, if your plan has one.
New medical ID cards - Beginning in September 2022, if you request a new medical ID card or download a digital card in Blue Access for MembersSM, the BCBSTX App or by calling a BCBSTX Personal Health Assistant, you’ll see deductible and out-of-pocket maximum amounts. All HealthSelect participants will get a new medical ID card in November 2022.
