Why mind-body connection matters

Managing stress is an important aspect of your overall health. Research suggests that managing stress can improve blood pressure, blood sugar, sleep and energy. 

Here are four simple ways to support your whole health:

  1. Pair movement with mood. Even a 10-minute walk can lift energy and reduce stress.
  2. Keep up with checkups. Tell your provider how you’re feeling—physically and emotionally.
  3. Make small routines. Regular sleep, healthy meals and a regular schedule for taking your medication make healthy habits easier to keep.
  4. Use your medical plan benefits. Take advantage of the resources at your fingertips, from Virtual Visits for real-time care to Learn to Live® for online, self-paced mental health care to Buena Vida's tools and resources to help you achieve your health goals.

Support for body and mind with Virtual Visits

You can schedule a medical or mental health Virtual Visit with a licensed board-certified doctor, therapist or psychiatrist from home through Doctor On Demand® and MDLIVE®. Appointments are typically available quickly, and visits are secure and confidential. 

  • Virtual Visits are covered at 100% for those enrolled in HealthSelect of Texas®, HealthSelectSM Out-of-State or HealthSelectSM Secondary.

  • Consumer Directed HealthSelectSM participants must meet their annual deductible before Virtual Visits are covered, subject to the coinsurance after deductible is met. Learn more about Virtual Visits.

Self-guided support with Learn to Live

If you prefer a private, on-your-schedule option, Learn to Live may work best for you. Learn to Live gives you access to a digital mental health service grounded in cognitive behavior therapy. The program also gives you online programs for stress, anxiety depression, sleep and more. You can work through lessons at your pace and message with a coach for encouragement and tips. 

  • HealthSelect of Texas medical plan participants age 13 and older and living in the U.S., including those enrolled in Consumer Directed HealthSelect or HealthSelect Secondary, administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX), are eligible to participate. Learn more about Learn to Live.
